Cross-Country Skiing & Snowshoeing

Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES) offers daily snowshoe tours on Aspen and Snowmass. Travel along mountain streams and along ridgelines while learning about mountain ecology on with an ACES Naturalist guide. Daily snowshoe tours are offered on top of Aspen Mountain and Snowmass Mountain. Tours are offered through a partnership between ACES, Aspen Skiing Company, and the White River National Forest (USFS).

Ice Skating

Looking for an off-slope activity? You can ice skate at a variety of facilities around Snowmass Village. The Snowmass Village Ice Rink, located at Snowmass Village Town Park, is open in the winter to skating and hockey. Skate rentals are available. The Snowmass Recreation center also allows you to rent skates and use their outdoor rink!

Snowmobiling tours are the perfect option for speed demons or families looking for some adventure and the most beautiful views in the area. They are offered during the winter months through a number of local outfitters, who also rent sleds for exploring the area on your own.

Let 10 Alaskan sled dogs guide you through the pristine Snowmass wilderness. Winding trails, experienced drivers, and comfortable sleds combine to make this the winter excursion of a lifetime. You can choose from morning, afternoon, or evening tours. End your tour with the perfect complement: a gourmet four-course lunch or dinner. Sleds can typically hold two adults and a small child, making this an excellent winter family adventure. Mush!

Family & Children

Ullr Nights On Snowmass Mountain

Every Friday night during the peak of winter season, we honor of the Norse God of Snow — Ullr — with Ullr Nights, a nighttime winter wonderland party at Elk Camp on Snowmass.

Friends and family take an evening gondola ride up to Elk Camp for outdoor winter activities such as tubing, ice skating, snow biking, as well as making s'mores and hot chocolate by the bonfire. Dance to live music and enjoy an à la carte culinary celebration sure to please any palate. After playing in the snow, kids can warm up inside with fun activities and entertainment downstairs in The Tent.

Snow Tubing Snowmass At Elk Camp

The multiple lanes are lift served and carved into the Meadows at Elk Camp, with lighting facilities to illuminate the runs at night during Ullr Nights festivities and on special holidays. Tubing at Snowmass opens in mid-December and will be open every day through the winter season in conjunction with winter lift operations, as well as during Ullr Nights. Tubing lanes can also be made available for special events and parties as requested. Must be at least 36" tall to ride.

Breathtaker Alpine Coaster

For some off the slopes entertainment, hop onto the Breathtaker Alpine Coaster. Riders will reach speed so fup to 28 mph while they are wisked through over a mile of forest.

Daily Hours: 11:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Ullr Nights Hours: 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM
