Summer Activities

Snowmass Mountain may be best known for winter activities, but when the snow thaws, there are even more things to do in Aspen in the summer. Summer activities in the Aspen and Snowmass area include endless athletic, cultural, and outdoor events, culminating in nationally-acclaimed music festival during Labor Day Weekend.

Biking & Cycling

To help you enjoy the area, Viceroy Snowmass partners with Aspen Cycling Tours to offer excursions for all experience levels, from complete beginners to professional riders. Enjoy fully-guided cycling tours in the Aspen and Snowmass area in the beautiful Roaring Fork Valley.

The Elk Camp Gondola at Snowmass takes hikers to the beautiful midway point or the summit of Snowmass Mountain – offering a trail system covering 50 miles of terrain.

Fly-Fishing (All Season)

Snowmass and Aspen have some of the best fly fishing in United States, boasting two Gold Metal rivers, The Roaring Fork, and The Frying Pan.  We work with a few fantastic outfitters for private fishing tours and you can choose between a wading or floating trip.

Rafting & Kayaking

Rafting is the most popular summer adventure activity in the Roaring Fork Valley. Trips are offered from beginner levels to advanced or even a specialty whitewater private trip. Great trips to choose from include the Upper and Lower Roaring Fork, Brown’s Canyon which is on the Arkansas River, the Turbulent Triple Shoshone, and both Slaughterhouse and Numbers for the thrill seekers.

All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) Tours

ATV excursions are one of the most scenic and exhilarating tours you can experience during the summer months. Each machine can accommodate one or two riders. 2-hour, 4-hour, 8-hour, and full-day rentals are available. This is a free ride, and not a “guided” tour. This allows riders more freedom and options for riding.

Horseback Riding

Enjoy tours that are guided through the Snowmass Wilderness area and along Maroon Creek leading up to Maroon Bells. There are a few horseback rides to choose from, including pony rides, 1-hour, 2-hour, half-day, and full-day rides.  Lunch and dinner rides are available and are an absolute treat.

Enjoy the natural beauty and spectacular course at the award-winning Jim Engh golf course at the Snowmass Club.

Disc Golf

At Snowmass, the popular sport of Disc Golf takes a high-altitude twist. Two 18-hole mountain courses wind through high alpine meadows and primeval glens to heart-stopping vistas. One course is accessed from Base Village; the other is accessed from the top of the Elk Camp Gondola.
