Local Attractions

No matter the season, the local attractions in Aspen and Snowmass offer unexpected adventures. Hot air balloon rides are one of the most amazing ways to see the Rocky Mountains, and a tour with one of the guides from Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES) is the best way to experience the wildlife around you. Or head to the Snowmass Rodeo during the summer for fun with the family. There are also wine tours through Paonia, home to some of the highest vineyards in the world.

Hot Air Balloon Rides

Hot Air Balloon rides are an amazing way to see the Rocky Mountains from a bird’s eye view. You will fly over mountains for approximately one hour, before landing among the pastures and concluding with a champagne breakfast. You will return to Viceroy at approximately 8:30-9:00am, which leaves you the entire day to participate in other activities.

Tour With A Naturalist Guide

Looking to explore Aspen/Snowmass on your own schedule? Hire a guide from Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES), available by the hour, to lead you on all sorts of adventures. ACES can provide transportation and will even pick up snacks and lunch. Adventures range from educational wildlife tours to challenging hikes.

Snowmass Rodeo

The Snowmass Rodeo, held on Wednesday nights, is a must if you are visiting Snowmass during the summer!  The grounds open at 5pm, with  BBQ served at 5pm and the Rodeo starting at 7pm.  Here you will see great events such as Bareback Bronc Riding, Team Roping, Barrel Racing, Bull Riding and, of course, the Calf Scrambling and Mutton Busting for kids!  Children between the ages of 4 years and 10 years can enter the Calf Scramble. This is a really fun evening for the entire family.

Wine Tours

A fantastic way to see another gem of Colorado is to visit the great wineries of Paonia, home to some of the highest wineries in the world. Ask our concierge about organizing a full-day private tour, which showcases the best of the West Elks AVA, an area home to an eclectic mix of skilled winemakers. Spend the day tasting with a knowledgeable and attentive guide in a breathtaking setting, visit a world class gallery, tour a family-run farm, and enjoy some of the most spectacular scenery in the U.S.A. The scenic 90-minute drive over McClure Pass to Paonia is incredible, and the tour departs directly from Viceroy Snowmass. Lunch at a local restaurant is included.

Horse Drawn Carriage Rides

Enjoy a horse-drawn-carriage ride through the beautiful, lit up, snowy streets of Aspen. Learn as you go while the coachman educates you on the history of the Roaring Fork Valley. From carriage rides to sleigh rides, Aspen Carriage and Sleigh is perfect for both.

Family & Children

Every season, Snowmass is filled with fun and adventure. Allow our expert concierges to plan a perfect experience for your family to make the most of the great outdoors. Take a gondola ride up to Elk Camp for fun winter activities such as tubing, ice skating, snow biking, and more. Or visit the Ice Age Discovery Center to listen to some of the tallest tales in the West, recounted by master storytellers.

Apsen Recreation Center

This inviting community center is a dream for parents and kids alike. Swim at the indoor pool and ride the two-story water slide for hours, or try out 32-foot climbing tower — beginners welcome! With an on-site snack bar, locker room, ice rink and work-out facility, the center will keep the whole family entertained.

Ullr Nights On Snowmass Mountain

Every Friday night during the peak of winter season, we honor of the Norse God of Snow — Ullr — with Ullr Nights, a nighttime winter wonderland party at Elk Camp on Snowmass.

Friends and family take an evening gondola ride up to Elk Camp for outdoor winter activities such as tubing, ice skating, snow biking, as well as making s'mores and hot chocolate by the bonfire. After playing in the snow, kids can warm up inside with fun activities and entertainment downstairs in The Tent.
