From the late summer, through the early winter months, the Roaring Fork River continues to some of the finest flyfishing in North America. Less than fifteen minutes from the Viceroy Snowmass, 'The Fork' is designated as a gold-medal fishery. It is a beautiful stretch of mountain trout stream, with many sections of private water seeing very few anglers each year. Combine these exclusive locations with the most experienced fishing guides in the valley, and you have an wonderful outing that you and your family will never forget.

As the Viceroy Snowmass' preferred activities provider, Aspen Outfitting Company works closely with our concierge and Gone Fishing to ensure that guests are informed about the seasonality of different activities; including the appropriate clothing, and most desirable time of day/year to participate. The concierge is also knowledgeable about the suitability of different activities for different levels of fitness and experience, and on ways that we can tailor the experience to the preferences of each specific guest.

Rafting & Kayaking

Aspen/Snowmass is one of the top ten areas for rafting and kayaking in the country. With an incredible variety of whitewater experiences - from first-timer mild, to thrill-seeker wild - rafts, duckies and inflatable kayaks are available for full-day, ¾-day and half-day adventures.

Hot Air Balloon Rides

Hot Air Balloon rides are one of the most amazing ways to see the Rocky Mountains from a bird’s eye view. You will fly over mountains for approximately 1 hour and will land in pastures where you will conclude the flight with a champagne breakfast.  You will return to Viceroy at approximately 8:30am – 9:00am which leaves you the entire day to participate in other activities.


Take the Elk Camp Gondola and Elk Camp chairlift (Friday - Sunday) for stunning views and an amazing network of trails suitable for all levels of hikers, from beginner to expert. Pick up a map from the concierge to plan your route for the day. Let our preferred guiding service take you on a scenic hike just outside of Aspen and Snowmass. We'll help you determine the best hike for you and your party to destinations from Cathedral Lake, Lost Man, Midway Pass, Buckskin Pass, West Maroon Pass, Tabor, New York trail, and more. You'll walk among fields of wildflowers, through Aspen groves and past mountain streams while surrounded by the scenic peaks of the Central Colorado Rocky Mountains. You may see the occasional mountain goat or herd of elks.

Road Cycling & Mountain Biking

Aspen and Snowmass, Colorado are home to some of the most exceptional athletes in the world. While biking has always been a popular sport in this area with locals and visitors alike, it has achieved an even higher degree of significance (locally, nationally, and internationally) since becoming a regular stop on the US Pro Challenge, and home to Tejay Van Garderen and Keegan Swirbul "(U23 national champ)" amongst others.

To help you enjoy all that Snowmass has to offer, Viceroy Snowmass has partnered with Aspen Cycling Tours, a road and mountain cycling coaching and guide service. Catering to all levels of rider from complete beginner to professional rider, they provide fully guided cycling services in Aspens beautiful Roaring Fork valley, which at the highest points includes the Maroon Bells, Ashcroft and Independence Pass but also the lesser known and equally stunning rides from Snowmass to Basalt, the Frying Pan river and the hills of Glenwood Springs.

Snowmass Golf Club

Snowmass Club is host to a magnificent Jim Engh traditional Irish links signature course. The 18 hole, 6959 yard championship design has stunning panoramic vistas and incorporates the highest standard of excellence with impeccably maintained fairways and greens, challenging elevation changes and bunkers. 

The course features an open design which follows the rolling terrain nestled amongst picturesque ponds and streams, enhancing the essence of local terrain, twisting around a Rocky Mountain landscape.

With five sets of tees, the course guarantees that novices and pros alike will find this course a challenging adventure.

Service begins the moment you arrive at bag drop. Club facilities include a full service restaurant and bar, a fully stocked pro shop including club rentals and a complete practice facility that gives you a chance to work on your strategy pre game.

Looking to explore Aspen/Snowmass on your own schedule? Hire an Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES) Naturalist Guide, available by the hour, to lead you on adventures of many varieties. ACES can provide transportation and will even pick up snacks and lunch. Adventures range from educational wildlife tours to strenuous hikes. Basic fees for private, guided hikes are $50/hr per guide. The Aspen Music Festival

The Aspen Music Festival and School is the United States’ premier classical music festival, presenting more than 300 musical events during its eight-week summer season. The institution draws top classical musicians from around the world to this Colorado mountain retreat for an unparalleled combination of performances and music education. Many events are free, and seating on the David Karetsky Music Lawn and in the Music Garden is always free. Additional programming is offered year-round. Cool Climate Fun and Games

In addition to the myriad outdoor snow activities that draw visitors to Aspen Snowmass—including Alpine, Nordic and cross-country skiing; snowboarding; snowmobiling, snowshoe touring, ice skating—winter brings the X Games and other world-class sports competitions, free outdoor concerts and much more.

Spring sports include paragliding, hiking, fly-fishing and horseback riding.

In every season, The Treehouse Kids’ Adventure Center serves as the hub for Aspen/Snowmass kids’ activities. From babies and toddlers to teenager, age-appropriate offerings and childcare include ski and snowboard school, family entertainment and experiential learning experiences.

Disc Golf

Try your hand at one of the fastest growing sports at the top of the Elk Camp Gondola to Snowmass Base Village. Here you'll find the first — and only — place in Colorado to boast two 18-hole courses. Lift ticket is required for Elk Camp Gondola and golf discs are available for rent at Four-Mountain Sports in Snowmass Base Village and on the Snowmass Village Mall. 

 Disc golf is available on Snowmass daily between 10:30am–3:30pm.

AndersonRanch Arts Center

Located in Snowmass Village, Anderson Ranch Arts Center celebrates artists, art-making, critical dialogue and community. Music Events in Aspen/Snowmass

When the ski season ends in Snowmass/Aspen the area becomes a buzzing music scene, with festivals and concerts of all genres. Snowmass Village and JAS (Jazz Aspen Snowmass) have joined together since 1994 to offer a summer full of free concerts with a wide variety of musical genres presented, everything from reggae to classical jazz. The concerts are held outside at the end of the Snowmass Village Mall on Snowmass Mountain and are ideal for picnics. At the end of summer, the JAS Labor Day Festival takes place in Snowmass Village. This vibrant festival is renowned for its unparalleled combination of world-class music on three stages and stunning mountain vistas.

ULLR Nights

A celebration on Fridays throughout the winter at Elk Camp on Snowmass mountain. Family friendly, enjoy s’mores and hot chocolate, tubing, a snow slide, ice skating with free rentals, live music, snow bikes, and guided snowshoe ACES tours.

Ride the gondola up $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for children and season pass holders, children under 3 are free. Last ride up 8:30.

Available dates: December 18, 2015 - April 1, 2016  from 5:30 pm – 9:00 pm.

Dog Sledding

Let 10 Alaskan sled dogs guide you through the pristine Snowmass wilderness. Winding trails, experienced drivers, and comfortable sleds combine to make this the winter excursion of a lifetime. You can choose from morning, afternoon, or evening tours. End your tour with the perfect complement: a gourmet four-course lunch or dinner. Sleds can typically hold two adults and a small child, making this an excellent winter family adventure. Mush!

Horse Drawn Carriage Rides

Enjoy a horse drawn carriage ride through the beautiful lit up snowy streets of Aspen. Learn as you go while the coachman educates you on the history of the Roaring Fork Valley. From carriage rides to sleigh rides, Aspen carriage is perfect for both.

Snow Tubing

Snow Tubing Hill at Elk Camp: 
The multiple lanes are lift served and carved into the Meadows at Elk Camp, with lighting facilities to illuminate the runs at night during Ullr Nights festivities and on special holidays. Tubing at Snowmass opens in mid-December and will be open every day through the winter season in conjunction with winter lift operations, as well as during Ullr Nights. Tubing lanes can also be made available for special events and parties as requested. Must be at least 36" tall to ride.

Cooking Classes

Join us at Viceroy Snowmass for a three course gourmet dinner cooking class taught by Executive Chef, Will Nolan. Learn the skills and techniques needed to create a delicious and unique meal fully equipped with your own chef’s coat and wine pairing add on. $150 per person | $25 wine pairing add on Dates vary and are posted in our calendar of events when available.

Mawa Kitchen and Cooking School offers hands-on workshops designed for people who enjoy eating and drinking, and occasionally preparing a meal themselves.  Their relaxed, informal day and evening classes are taught through interaction with staff instructors or local guest chefs, all served up with a sense of humor and plenty of wine. 

Aspen-to-Crested Butte Hiking Experience

This summer Viceroy Snowmass is offering guests a luxurious new way to experience the iconic Aspen to Crested Butte hike. Connected by a series of high-alpine trails and passes, the journey between the two towns offers breathtaking views of Colorado’s dramatic landscape, including the famous Maroon Bells. 

Guests leave the hotel and are taken by private transport to the trailhead where they begin their trip guided by local experts. The hotel’s culinary team provides a gourmet trail lunch as well as treats, snacks and beverages for travelers to enjoy on the journey. Once in Crested Butte, guests can enjoy the idyllic town and then have three options to complete experience: spend the night in Crested Butte; have a helicopter bring them back to Viceroy Snowmass following the hike; or drive back to the hotel via private transport.  

Shuttle ride back - $1400 for 1-2 + $250 per additional guest up to 6.
Helicopter ride - $3850 for 1-2 + $250 up to 6.

Run & Gun Paintball

Join us for a wild game of outdoor paintball! Jun 10 thru September 2 and weekends through the end of September. We provide all the equipment and transportation - you need to wear grubby clothes and sturdy shoes! 
  • Book your own private group of up to 10 or more .
  • Reservations are required and must be made at least 24 hrs. in advance.
  • Trip departs from outside the Elk Camp Gondola ticket office at Snowmass Base Village.
  • $550 for a group of up to 10 players. Additional players are $45 per person. Case of 2000 paintballs is $81.

Pine Creek Cook House

Pine Creek Cook House is located at the base of the Elk Mountain range and the Ashcroft Ski Touring cross-country area has over 21 miles of groomed trails. Guests leave their cars behind at the historic Ghost Town of Ashcroft to cross country ski, snowshoe, or ride the horse drawn sleigh to the Cookhouse. Lunch is served daily from 12:00pm to 2:00pm and the dinner nightly arrival time is at 6:30pm to either ski or sleigh to the Cookhouse.  To start your dinner adventure the choice is yours: either a cross-country ski tour…lantern lit at night, or a trip back in time on a horse-drawn sleigh taking you into the beautiful Castle Creek Valley.  Awaiting you the end of the trail is Colorado log cabin restaurant with glowing fireplaces to warm you, a wonderful selection of hot drinks, fine wines, and an epicurean delight to fulfill the heartiest of appetites.  Winter Dinner is a gourmet four course inclusive meal featuring Buffalo, North American Elk, Venison, and fresh line caught fresh fish all crafted using the finest sourced ingredients.

Mountain Dining & Snow CAT Rides

Aspen Skiing Company offers 3 great options for On Mountain Dinners: Burlingame Cabin, Lynn Britt Cabin and Cloud 9.  All the dinner are accessed via snow cat and fun for everyone.

Lynn Britt Cabin is an elegant log cabin located on the slopes of Snowmass Mountain, featuring majestic panoramic views of the Snowmass Valley and high peaks beyond.  This is a family friendly event and is available Tuesday and Thursday nights only.  The price per person includes a snow cat ride to and from the cabin, a four-course meal and live entertainment.  The cost is $95 for adults, $55 for children ages 3 to 11 years and free for children ages 2 and under; prices do not include beverages, tax and gratuity.  Enjoy an exquisite Western Mountain dinner prepared by our executive chef while live entertainment and dancing entertain you throughout the evening. You will travel to and from the cabin in snow cats, which pick up slope side at Base Village at 5:45pm next to Ricard.

Situated at 10 900ft, Cloud Nine Alpine Bistro is the former Highlands Ski Patrol hut.  You will enjoy a romantic gourmet style dinner with a relaxed atmosphere while a cozy fireplace warms the room.   You will meet the snow cat at 5:45pm at the Aspen Highlands base and will arrive at the restaurant at approximately 6:30pm.  The snow cat leaves the restaurant at approximately 10:00pm and will arrive back at the base of Highlands Mountain at approximately 10:30pm.  Not recommended for children.  We advise that you dress warmly as you will be traveling in an open aired snow cat.  The cost is $130.00 per person which excludes beverages, taxes and gratuity and includes a 4 course meal and the snow cat to and from the restaurant.  Cloud Nine is available on Thursday evenings only.

A fantastic way to see another gem of Colorado is to visit great wineries in Paonia, which are the second highest vineyards in Northern America.  Ask our concierge about a full day private tour which showcases the best of the West Elks AVA, an area home to an eclectic mix of skilled winemakers.  Spend the day tasting with a knowledgeable and attentive guide in a breathtaking setting, visit a world class gallery, tour a family run farm and enjoy some of the most spectacular scenery in the U.S.A.  The scenic 1½ hour drive over McClure Pass to Paonia is incredible and the tour departs directly from Viceroy Snowmass. Lunch at a local restaurant is included.
