Meet the instructor:
Rita Domingues, PhD, RYT, is a multi-style yoga teacher who integrates an evidence-based approach informed by her academic background in biology and psychology. She began her career in academia, working as a university lecturer and researcher. Her yoga teaching journey began in 2013, after completing her first 200-hour Hatha Yoga teacher training with Paulo Hayes. Over time, a deep sense of purpose and a desire to be of service led Rita to fully embrace her role as a yoga teacher.
Rita’s teaching includes Vinyasa Flow, Hatha, Yin, Restorative, Yoga Nidra, breathwork, and meditation. Her classes aim to develop strength, flexibility, mobility, and body awareness. Informed by functional anatomy and biomechanics, her movement practices are accessible, safe, and adaptable to each individual. Her teaching is guided by three core values: acceptance of the body and mind as they are, intention in every movement and breath, and love as a quiet yet powerful force for transformation. These qualities form the foundation of Rita's approach to healing and self-discovery.
Rita's personal practice is rooted in the Ashtanga Vinyasa system and has been influenced by studies with teachers such as Tarik van Prehn, Tomas Zorzo, and Nancy Gilgoff. She is currently expanding her knowledge through a 200-hour Functional Hatha Vinyasa Yoga training with the Yoga Easy Academy, learning from teachers such as Esther Ekhart, José de Groot, and David Lurey. Her meditation background is influenced by Zen Buddhism in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh, and has evolved to include elements from Taoism and Stoicism.
Rita’s classes offer more than just movement - they are an invitation to pause, breathe, and return to what matters most.
