More of the Maldives is underwater than above. Therefore it is not surprising that the Maldives in known the world over as one of the premier dive destinations of the world. The country has thousands of reefs and over 1,000 different species of reef fish that inhabit them. There are also hundreds of species of soft and hard coral that adorn the reefs. Water temperatures stay within the 27 to 30 degree Celsius. During the warmer period, divers and snorkelers are comfortable diving without wetsuits, although Lycra and 3mm wetsuits are the norm. Some divers prefer 5mm wetsuits for night dives or dives during the rainy season. You may contact the dive center at the Viceroy Maldives prior to your arrival for recommendations on equipment or simply let us provide you with our world class gear once you arrive at the resort.
Our dive team, operated by Best Dives Maldives, welcomes you to world-class diving in the Maldives. The advantage of diving in the Shaviyani Atoll is that its relatively unknown and the sites remain virgin (to most extent) by tourists due to the remoteness of the resort. Whether you are an experienced diver or are deciding if this is a sport that you want to venture into, you could go on your first underwater discovery. The world beneath will dazzle you with its marine life and it would be unfortunate if you left without seeing the diversity and richness of its marine life.
We have charted numerous dive sites, each with its own unique characteristics and points of interest. Explore the vibrant reefs and
many other underwater inhabitants.
