    Central Park

One of Viceroy New York’s distinguishing features is its views of Central Park, and its proximity of two blocks. Central Park is Manhattan’s 840 acre park in the center of the island. The park initially opened in 1857 and is the most visited urban park in the United States. Central Park is a communal hub for New York City whose residents come for fitness, entertainment, relaxation, and socializing.  Central Park has activities to offer in all seasons, from summer concerts to winter ice skating.

    Recreation

Central Park is filled with a broad variety of activities to entertain visitors of all ages and at all times of year. Throughout the year you can take a Guided Tour of the park in a Horse-Drawn Carriage, Pedicab Tour or on a Bicycle Tour, or if you're feeling independent you can Rent a Bike and tour around on your own. There are six miles (10 km) of drives within the park are used by joggers, bicyclists, skateboarders, and inline skaters, especially when automobile traffic is prohibited, on weekends and in the evenings after 7:00 pm. Our concierge can assist you with planning tours or renting a bicycle.

For families, there are plenty of great Children's Activities and over 20 Children's Playgrounds. Families will especially enjoy the Central Park Zoo on the South end of the park. There are also a myriad of Sports that can be played in Central Park throughout all of the seasons.

During the warmer months there are Concerts presented by SummerStage, Good Morning America, The New York Philharmonic and others featuring a wide variety of genres for all music-lovers. Seasonal plays and events are also abundant - with Shakespeare in the Park and the Central Park Film Festival as some of the most anticipated annual activities.

Check out the beautiful Cherry Blossom trees that bloom throughout Central Park and other beautiful flowers and plants that flourish within the Conservatory Garden. Picnicking in Central Park is also very popular.
